Here is my idea of testing a bullet , even though not a perfect way... But shooting a bullet into a hard medium and seeing how they performed...
I took a section of cherry wood and about 30+ inches long and with my chain saw I cut around 10 slits into it varying from one inch to 2 inch pieces like a loaf of bread with a few pieces taken out...
Bullets penetrated 18 + inches and the mushroomed one went 24 inches... The first bullets hit knots in the wood and stopped short and the mushroomed one did the deepest pentration... However all bullets are straight and not bent other then the crushing of the front end upon impact of the hard cherry wood...

They did penetrate straight and they would do a lot of destruction on a buf and take out a bufs brain and hippo's brain also

These are the 480 gr DGX and the weights are:
463 grs , 433grs, 456grs.
cross section of the DGX, 463gr, 480gr, 433gr, 456gr, 500gr interloc lengthwise, 500gr cross section

Have any idea of the velocity at the barrel?
Looks like very good results.

Mike that is all well and good but for professional and scientific results, you must do as "Shootaway" does and whack them with a large hammer in order to determine suitability for DG! Big Grin

Seriously, thanks. I saw them at SCI and was initially impressed.

Regards,

RCG
