http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Holland's+.375+the+world's+greatest+big+bore.-a03451921 I just read this and thought it was pretty informative. I'm pretty sure he did a write up on the .416 Rigby also but I am having trouble finding it right now. Still looking. Hopefully you will enjoy as did I. Thanks, jfm

You wonder... According to their memoirs none of these gentlemen ever wounded and lost an animal. Were they that good? Rich

If the link below does not work, just type SANCHEZ ARINO IN THE SEARCH BOX AND CLICK ON "AUTHOR". http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Holland's+.375+the+world's+greatest+big+bore.-a03451921 "The difference between adventure and disaster is preparation." ISS, Just because they don't talk of a lost animal, only goes to show that they exercise more discretion in their comments than you do in yours. Tony Sanchez-Arino was/is a better hunter than probably every single one of us, you included (I know, that amazes you). Why do you have to put a negative spin on so many topics? Sanchez-Arino was/is a great PH, one whom we likely won't see the likes of again for a very long time.

Just wait 'til he tries out the 375 Ruger! (that's internet sarcasm, btw)

Think this is an excerpt from his book, The Last of the Few. He covers plains game calibers and then 375H&H, 416Rigby, 500 Jeff. specifically (with mention of 404, 465, etc.). From the sounds of it, the 416 Rigby was/is his hands down favorite.

I just purchased Mr. Sanchez-Arino's new book on the great elephant hunters. It is really well written and is the first of his work that I have read. Apparently he utilized significant research to bring these men's stories to the table. I was puzzled by one comment he wrote, in his introduction, concerning the exploits of an individual(s) who remained anonymous. Mr. Arino's statement was that there could not have been any poaching on the scale that was attributable to this person or persons after 1945 due to game department facilities to track one down etc... I was wondering if he was in reference to Mr. Nyschens or Taylor? I have always been a huge fan of Ian Nyschens and find his that man's exploits to be authenticated. I recommend Mr. Arino's book as a really insightful read on these hunters lives. Some of the material I have read before, especially on J.A. Hunter. However, Mr. Arino recounts his personal conversations and anecdotes with these individuals and captures your attention. Apparently the .577 NE was a big favorite during the early years. Dutch

Alan, thanks for your help in posting this correctly. Sorry to all who tried to connect but were unable to do so. I know he wrote something on the .416 Rigby but for the life of me I cannot find it now. I remember it as being a great article. I'm still looking. Thanks, jfm
