Wow! That's in your face ! It's a lot of blood.
I'm guessing from the size of the blood pool feeding on the Kudu might have started before it completely expired.
The raw reality of wild Africa.

I was on a Bow hunt in S.A. and one of the guys shot a kudu at dusk. He hit him very high in the lungs. The next morning the bull was laying down right in the middle of camp! The guides said it was not uncommon for them to come into camp to try and get away from predators.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Camping in the Yellowstone backcountry we had buffalo bull stay in camp with us. Followed us a quarter mile while gathering fire wood and back. He slept about 50 yards from our tents.

I saw a virtually identical scene in the lobby of a flea bag motel in the Rampart district of Los Angeles many years ago. The victim in that case was a 14 year old Mexican Mafia gang member. The "hyenas" in that case were a mob of about 6 MS-13 gang members.

The victim was accosted on the street by his rivals and fled into the motel lobby. The woman at the desk ran into her office and locked the door. The mob ran into the lobby and set upon the victim.

Tennis shoe and boot prints in place of the paw prints, otherwise, the scene looked almost identical to this one. Just about the same amount of blood, too.

It was all captured on the motel security camera. Something to watch in real time, believe me.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I had an immediate flashback the moment I saw the photo in the OP. Strange how that happens.
