I have often wondered why hunters dont ship there ammo to their outfitters/Ph ahead of time.

Are there laws or regs. against this?

This would seem, to me, to be one answer to the weight/count issue on most airlines.

At the end of your hunt you could leave any "regular cartridges" in camp for the next hunter-in-need. If you have some very expensive left overs you can take them back with less weight because of the emptys.

You can't export ammo without an export permit. And that's major red tape.

And... you can't import or posses ammo without proper license (in most countries at least).
