Is this the same cat?
I enjoyed Bwana’s post on the cat in the BC. Thought this will create a bit more fun. I of course know the answer, and will post it after we had some fun.

I'd guess no.
For whatever reason the second Leopard looks younger and smaller.

The chewed up ears make me think that he may not be too young.
But the face in the second photo sure reminds me of a kitten.
Of course the only live leopard I've ever seen was in a zoo.

I'm guessing medium size male in the daylight photo, and older female below. Both have spots though...

If you had given us photos of the same sides, there would be no doubt about whether they were the same cat even if taken years apart.

Be interesting to hear the truth!

I think it's the same cat. It's a big male. Night photo's make them look smaller then day photo's. It's always good to have both to confirm size.

Both cats are older by looking at the size of the Rosettes shows a sign of maturity to me. Are they the same I am not sure but I will say yes.

Very hard to tell but I do NOT think that they are of the same cat.

1) On the left ear in the color pic I cannot see the 2 notch's as shown in the b&w pic.

2) The color photo shows a really big Leopard. In the b&w pic the ears are very big in relation to the body...in the color pic the ears look much smaller in relation to the head although the ears are folded back closer to the head.

3) The b&w Leopard just "Looks Smaller"

They sure don't look the same, but I believe the night time photos deminish the size. As such, I'll go with the two photos as being the same leopard.

The color photo shows a cat very deep through the midsection, no young cat will be built like that. The cat has a blocky build of a bruiser. I believe the B&W photo is distorted by the distance to the cat although I have little experience with trail cameras, especially night photos. I'm thinking they could be the same cat.
I would drop the hammer on the cat in the color photo, quick!!

frankly i think the first "photo" looks like a painting and not a trail camera picture. the light is coming in from a lot of different directions at once. also the time time stamp shows 4 PM. WHERE IN THE WORLD IS IT GETTING DARK AT 4 PM? also agree it looks a lot like a jaguar but the rosettes aren't quite blocky enough. the shadows in the fIrst picture are long from left to right- if the time stamp is accurate, IT AIN'T 4 PM.

jDollar. The time stamp is correct. The picture was taken in the shadow of a very big mountain where the sun already dipped below the ridge.

I will post the result shortly as I am off now, and I do not think we will pick up too many new replies on this! Interesting is it not!

It is the same male Leopard. Here is the answer:

If you look carefully at the rosettes on his left shoulder, just where the "crease" ends, and compare it with the colour picture you will note it is the same cat. The rosettes on a Leopard is like finger prints, no two are the same. Also, the two pictures were taken not 500 yards apart, where I was trying to figure out which way he was coming from (where rocky area).
This fantastic Leopard is no longer though……..
Amazing what a 4 month diet of fatty Zebra meat can do to body condition!

Assume this means you can tell us a bit more: Estimated or measured weight, length, skull size, location,etc...?

Good hunting,

Also when you take a picture of a cat with the eyes glowing in reflected light it makes the eyes look bigger, which gives it that baby face.

With wide angle lenses you can make a house cat look like a 500 pound lion and vice versa.

He was poisoned by a cattle rancher not 3 miles from where this pictures was taken, which was right on our boundary. I did not get to see him but my side kick (Phillemon) did, he saw the "horse shoe" rosette on Tyson's left shoulder and informed me of the same. I nearly cried!
