It’s amazing
What you can do now at 39,000’. Two hours out of Dubai headed home from a great trip to Dubai and Botswana. Internet connectivity is a wonderful thing- as long as you done let it bugger your hunt!

Glad you had a great trip and want to hear more about it.

And yep, WIFI is pretty nice when you have 20+ hours to burn flying. Nice to be able to work without the phone ringing...

Yes. Big game hunting has now been legally approved but no permits have yet been issued. Last night after we left, Clive Eaton, owner of Tholo Safaris, was meeting with the Minister of Tourism, other officials, and stake holders to hammer out the regs for permit issuance. It’s a done deal but it will be EXPENSIVE!

Expensive, of that I am sure. But what will the appetite be for expensive ele hunts if we still can't import the ivory?

Glad you had a great hunt Jerry!

Congratulations, Jerry! Glad you and the Mrs had a great time. Saw another post you made about loving your Dubai visit. I totally agree! I was there for a shorter stay than you, just last weekend, really wish I’d spent more time there. I loved it. Where else in the Middle East can you order Carolina style pork ribs with a Budweiser or Corona?

Safe travels the rest of your journey.

Sitting now in Ft Lauderdale airport awaiting our final flight home. I slept for 8 straight hours last night. On our next trip through Dubai we are going to schedule a longer layover as 3 days wasn’t enough.

I much prefer local food when I travel, the exception being India; I hate Indian food. ME food, esp lamb, is great.

"I hate Indian food."

There are literally thousands of regional variations in Indian cuisine. Not all regions serve hot & spicy food.

Some steamed food, coconut or cream based and baked roasts are delicious and mild. Also vegetarian food.

I do too. I just found it more than a little ‘curious’ than my hotel restaurant featured pork ribs. I don’t think we’d see that anywhere else in the Middle East, except for the UAE. Based on Saeed’s suggestion, I spent a few hours at the Dubai Mall. It was interesting but I couldn’t get over the number of American restaurant chains featured. Cheesecake Factory, Chili’s, Five Guys and quite a few others I don’t recall at the moment.

Next time I’m in Dubai, I’m going to schedule more time. It’s really an interesting place. I highly recommend it.
