Looks pretty slick. Do they make bases for CZ? I couldn't get that page to open up on the web site. JCN

Thanks again to retreever for the side views showing how low the base height and ring heights are. There is some sort of spring loaded locking device in the bases, eh? And are all these parts from forged and machined steel instead of castings? The demo targets in the link above shows sub 1/2 MOA 3 shot groups where the scope is removed and replaced after ech shot. That is an amazingly precise setup. Can one get two sets of rings that work in the same base for backup scope use? I gotta see this setup before my very eyes. Looks very good if it can do all that and hold up to the pounding of a .458 Lott. Another point about the Warne design for the Ruger QD mounts. That is a very tiny crescent/circular tab that sticks down from the bottom of the ring, that gives a lesser contact area than the Talley bases afford. If made of inferior sintered steel casting, it is a poor design indeed. I would hope that the genuine Ruger rings are made of stouter stuff, or if their recoil tab is a casting, then at least properly heat treated. The other Warne/QRW-type rings (for Weaver-style cross slot) have a larger square/rectangular recoil tab on the bottom of the rings, and these afford recoil shoulder areas bigger than the Talley bases do. But still the sintered steel bugger is there. Looks like the Warnes and Leupold QRW's are both made by Warne, and are prime candidates for replacement by Talley or Talbot. So, what is the best way to get a set of Talbot bases and rings to fit a Winchester M70 Classic .375 H&H action?

Rip, The parts are machined and not cast... I bought them from Talbot and if you call him or answerrifles and you can purchase them... Mike

I have set on a Winchester model 70 .458 Lott which used to be a .416 Rem mag. Fastest dismount/ remount system in the business. I have used them for the past seven years on all types of game from brown bear to cape buffalo and never had a problem with loss of zero. As mentioned, you can buy them direct or do like I did and send your rifle to Answer Products and they will install them for you with the 8-40 screws. Geronimo

Rip, Spoke to Al Talbot tonight..He makes the mount for over 50 rifles..His cell # is 810-240-8427... His mounting system is on some of the US ground forces in the middle east..They have them on their 50Cal sniper rifles. How's that for big boomer strength... Quote "With my 300win mag. an Army sniper shot a 5 inch group of under 3inches at 770yds...putting on the scope removing it and doing this process over and over.." We talke about spending alot for a rifle..optics and then spend a small amount for bases and rings.. Yes it will fit a Brno needs drilled and tapped.. Mike

Retreever, Thanks for checking for me. I am drawn to expensive, good quality gear like a moth to the flame. The part about being low enough to use the sights certainly appeals to me. JCN
