Just a heads up- Sportsman's Warehouse in Salem, OR has had a LH Model 70 in .375 sitting on the shelf for quite some time. Seems like the price was around $900 and was still there as of a few days ago. They also have a RH Model 70 in .416 Rem in whatever the higher grade safari model is(black forend tip, etc). I have no idea what their policy is in regards to selling to another FFL or transfering guns to another of their locations. Give em a call @503-589-0800 or try www.sportsmanswarehouse.com. Good luck from a fellow lefty. Steve

Mims- I assume you got SBT's email but if not, he has decided against the model 70 and the 416 is no longer on hold (if it ever was)! Thanks anyway. John

I finally got my LEFTY M70 safari in October and I'm having a blast with it! I haven't gotten to shoot it in a couple of weeks because of work constraints but I'm supposed to take it pig hunting next month. I'm Mr. Happy !!!!

I've found a couple of the Win safari express in a gun shop yesterday. One is a left hand 375 H&H the other is a right hand 458 mag. He had a $975 price tag on them.

30ott6 I had contact with your buddy and no problems. Thanks for thinking of me. For you that have been able to locate the left hand 375 they are like gold...have not made but one run of those and I sold out and still need some. Lots of folks wonder why you can't get guns year round. The bean counters at the factory help figure how many to make in a year and nearly always that run of that model in that caliber is run at one time during the year. Then it is up the the distributors / wholesalers and retailer buying direct to grab what they can of that run. Most distributors are afraid to buy much in the way of big bores even tho they sell thru each year according to the sales reps that call on me. The Win. / Browning rep here begs his dist. to buy more 375 and 416 stuff but it is hard to get them to do more than they did last year he tells me.

I talked with Winchester a few months ago and they told me that the run of left handed guns that they made this year were to fill the back orders that they had on file since 2001 when they made their last run of Lefty's. Their plan seems to be that when they get enough orders from distributors for left hand Safari's to justify it, they will switch the tooling over and make a run of them.

Fortner, Are you asking me if the left hand 375 is still there. It should be there as I saw it only yesterday. The name of the shop is Adventure Sports and their phone # is 425-771-3877. It is located in Lynwood WA

Instead of trying to save $100.00 and have to deal with the $8.00/hour help at Sportsman's Warehouse, just send a check to Harry. You know who you are dealing with then. He looks after AR folks. JCN

Lawndart, First off, Merry Christmas to you and yours. But, to get back to the subject at hand, my point wasn't about a better price, but the fact that a LH Model 70 in .375 has been sitting in a store's gun rack for sale while apparently quite few people are unable to locate one to buy. If you read the original post, "Harry" clearly stated that he did not have any Left Handed models available, so I don't think just sending him a check is going to do any good. While I can appreciate your customer loyalty to Harry, this is a free forum and I am pretty sure that he understands the risks and pitfalls of advertising here and can look out for himself. I've always thought Harry's posts were more in the spirit of finding and providing for sale rifles that are sometimes hard to find, rather than making a buck. I don't think Sportsman's has the corner on underpaid and underqualified gun counter help. I learned a long time ago not to depend on the person on the other side of the counter for informed or unbiased opinions. As a lifelong lefty and rifle nut for almost 40 years I understand the frustrations involved in finding and buying left handed firearms as well as anyone out there. I'm damn sure not going to apologize to you or anyone else for just trying to help a fellow lefty find a gun they've been looking for. Good day, Steve

Amen! Well put, lefty's have been discriminated against for umpteen years.

Steve, Well said. As a gun buyer, I really don't need anyone, high paid or not, telling me what to look for in a gun. Santa still hasn't found my chimney yet. With the extra hundred bucks, maybe it will make her journey, I mean his journey, a little easier. Roger QSL

Sorry Steve, I misread. I was born left eye dominant, and possibly left arm dominant. Every tool and piece of sporting goods kit I was given was for a rightie, so I adapted at a young age. I was trained to shoot right handed, and have always had to squint my left eye as I pulled the trigger. Just for something to do about six years ago I bought a left handed shotgun and started shooting clays and birds that way for a couple years. My scores equalled my best right handed work within three months. I toyed with switching for rifles, but as you guys have painfully noted, it is very hard to find big bores with the handle on the port side. Again, I didn't take the time to carefully read the posts, and my statement was incorrect. For penance I will lend my 375 H&H or 416 Rem Mag reamers to an AR lefty for their next big bore project. JCN PS I have a left handed 12 gauge Benelli Montefeltro that is in very good shape. I would sell it to an AR left hander for a very fair price. I haven't shot it in four years.

I shoot my pre '64s of the left side alot, it is a hassle to get used to but what else can a guy do? It's better than not shooting them at all.
