Two words: Clinton Foundation! Anyone who is interested in preserving what little of "true" wild Africa is left...had better hope that Hillary Clinton does NOT get elected as President of the U.S.A. The Clinton Foundation (Chelsea in particular) has made stopping elephant hunting a personal vendetta. They are already lobbying countries to close ivory importation and with the power of the Presidency...it will become unstoppable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. Dang, Lane. 10000 posts. Does this mean I will have to re-think my ardent support for Hillary? ...I say that hunters go into Paradise when they die, and live in this world more joyfully than any other men. -Edward, duke of York ". . . when a man has shot an elephant his life is full." ~John Alfred Jordan "The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero - 55 BC "The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." - Ayn Rand Cogito ergo venor- KPete “It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own self-interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self-love, and never talk to them of our own necessities but of their advantages.” ― Adam Smith - “Wealth of Nations”

It's a good thing that the US and EU bureaucrats are around to tell the rest of the world how to do things the way they want, and if they won't do it voluntarily, well then just use your political clout to force the issue. Even if they are wrong. God save the game animals and their environments from these pompous, arrogant assholes!!! ______________________________________________ The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who are bereft of that gift.

Gee, Skyline, do you think it is possible that the U.S. Government, in it's infinite wisdom, with its so enlightened leadership of the BoBo Administration could have possibly got it wrong?

For those really interested...do some snooping on how much influence the Clinton Foundation had on USF&W via lobbying Sally Jewel in getting the ivory ban. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. Search for Loxodonta africana and look at the quota for Tanz and Mos. It says "Importverbot gemäß Art. 4.1 (a) für Jagdtrophäen [72. SRG 02/07/15]" Which means import ban on hunting trophies according to SRG (Scientific Review Group).

Sadly the USFWS has been messing with other countries game management and CITES decisions since well before the current inept administration. This is also true of the EU. ______________________________________________ The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who are bereft of that gift.

http://www.huntingreport.com/w...te.cfm?articleid=734 EU Embargos Elephant and Lion Trophies from Six Countries (posted July 09, 2015) Elephant and lion hunting trophies from six African nations are under embargo by the European Union Commission after their Scientific Review Group issued negative determinations for certain range populations. Those populations are elephant from Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia, and lion from Benin, Burkina Faso and Cameroon. The embargoes are effective immediately and are the result of those new EU regulations implemented earlier this year (see The Hunting Report's October 23, 2014 warning and our January 19, 2015 news bulletin). The new regulations provide a Scientific Review Group (SRG) with the authority to review population and other data on certain species from exporting nations and issue its own finding on whether the hunting quotas are non-detrimental and actually enhance conservation for the populations in question. Those findings then determine whether now-required import permits should be issued for those trophies. The process is similar to that of the US Fish & Wildlife Service. You will recall it was such a negative finding by the US agency that triggered a US embargo on elephant trophies from Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Import permits from EU member states are now required for hunting trophies from six CITES-listed species: African lion, polar bear, African elephant (for populations not included in Annex A of Regulation 338/97, for which the import permit requirement already applies), Southern white rhinoceros (for populations not included in Annex A of Regulation 338/97, for which the import permit requirement already applies), hippopotamus and argali sheep. The SRG opinion is effective immediately and prevents the issuance of import permits by Member States of the EU, although there is a provision that allows Member States to seek new or better information in order to reject the opinion. The Commission is required to publish restrictions on a quarterly basis in the Official Journal of the European Communities. The affected range nations can provide additional information for the SRG to consider at its next meeting in September. The EU embargo is likely to be counterproductive to conservation in the affected African nations, since the elephants taken as hunting trophies are actually irrelevant in relation to the population decline caused by poaching. However, the boycott will reduce the number of paying hunters, thereby significantly reducing revenues. In fact, numbers of European hunters have already cancelled safaris to Zambia. While their chances of taking elephant in Zambia and the other destinations under embargo are not great, hunters always take other game during their safaris, contributing funds to conservation departments, anti-poaching efforts and community development projects. But without at least the chance to hunt elephant, they forgo the entire safari. The Hunting Report will continue following this issue and report on developments as they break. John J. Jackson, III, will have a more detailed report in the next issue of Conservation Force World Bulletin, which is delivered with your The Hunting Report Newsletter. - Written by Barbara Crown, Editor in Chief, The Hunting Report with contributions by John J.
