Has anyone hunted with Leopard Legend Hunting Safaris? I think the owner is L’wyk Jansen van Vuure, any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I have hunted in Namibia several times.

I have never heard of this outfit, but I don't know everyone, and would not presume to suggest otherwise.

Still, the apostrophe in the proprietor's first name, and the double "u" in his last, make me wonder if he really exists. Big Grin

Stupidity – nothing helps! Anti hunting sentiments – nothing helps! Put-‘n-Take Outfitters – money rules!

Perhaps it should spell Jansen van Vuuren?
It is a real name as I have been hunting with one ( but Danie was his first name, and obviousily not the same one you are looking for )

NAPHA could probably confirm his credentials for you.

Brian:

He is a real person and PH. I met him, his wife and kids socially during this year's first of my two annual trips to Namibia. Socially, he seemed like a decent sort.

His property is in NW Namibia in the western highlands about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs south of Etocha NP and about 30 min east of the town of Kamanjab. His property boarders the property I've been hunting every year for a couple of weeks to a couple of months every year since 2008. I believe his property is either all or mostly high fence as this year the entire area was over run by elephants that raised hell with fences and wells and he had a number of high dollar waterbuck get loose on my friends fathers place - I think they are still there.

Like I said, I've only met him socially and not hunted with him and my friend/PH allows him to occasionally hunt on his 50K acre low fence property for hyena on the rare occasion they don't have clients.

I'll be happy to help you out with any Namibia info and that area you'd like. I started out going there in 08 for a 10-day hunt and now spend a couple of months a year there and make a couple of trips a year there. We rent a car and drive around for a week to ten days every year and love it there. Working towards a second home/condo there in the not to distant future. With the current exchange rate life is REAL good there.

We hunted with L'wyk last year on his Sesfontein Conservancy and had a great hunt. It's definitely some real wild Africa. Here's my hunt report. http://forums.accuratereloadin...541008202#2541008202

The Conservancies around Etosha have very good game quality and density, however, the drought and rabies have hit hard especially on the Kudu. Conservancy hunting is about the most free range hunting encounter you will face. Most areas up north are between 500,000 to 800,000 acres and there are only cattle fences and one Red Line fence in the area. Even the Red Line fence is about as porous as our southern border.

It would take over a week of driving to see all four corners and the in between in just one of these Conservancies. Lots of open unspoiled land with very few living inside. Hunting is done on a concession basis and quotas are healthy despite the drought.

There are no sure bets on the hunting as the animals move around a lot as there are no impediments to their movement. But if you are motivated and aren't afraid of a lot of driving and walking, it is very rewarding experience plus you get to see some amazing country.

I would suspect the name should be "Van Vuuren"" in which case the spelling would be correct. Why not check with NAPHA?

I hunted with L'Wyk in 2011 and had a great time. I hunted the area where he lives and don't know anything about the concession, but he and his wife Julene do a fine job.

Brian,
I have hunted with Lwyk, and have stayed at his lodge. Really great hunter, super nice family. He does have access to big free range concession, in addition to private land that he owns, or hunts on (his family has surrounding ranches in addition to his place). If you're considering a hunt with him, you have nothing to worry about.

I hope you make it happen.

I haven't hunted with L'wyk, but I hunted on his brother's ranch this July (brother is named Danie). I met their parents, who run a very large cattle ranch as well as breeding Damara Goats. Their family is very highly regarded in the Kamanjab area, and there are lots of trophy springbok, gemsbok, kudu and wildebeest on their properties.
