44.5" Sable from Omay North
Martin Pieters sent me this picture of 44.5" sable shot this season by one of his clients in Omay North (Zimbabwe).

Now this is the sable I'm talking about!

NOTE, this is NOT ME in the picture!

It is probably the one that comes out of the park when it's getting toward sundown. I saw a bruiser there one time. Maybe the same guy.

I wasn't implying or insinuating anything. When I saw a biggun coming out of the park I was already to ding him right there, even though he wasn't even on my license!

Damn PH's. Smiler

I saw quite a few sable on my hunt in Omay North last week. A hunter Shawn Buffee was guiding took a nice heavy horned bull while we were there. About 38" and heavy bases. Hunted the right way... spotted at 6:00 am and shot at 4:30 pm. Those old bulls love the hills!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I spent a week trying to find a sable like that after buff and spots were in the salt . . . and I still have not found one.

There's not much I like better than a big sable.
