Ain't no such thing as "very unique", irregardless of past history.

Another favorite of mine - "most unique." ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

Talk trash if you will, but that is a pretty decent price on a couple of exceptional safaris. I only wish I had 30-40K that was just sitting around! Hugh

Don't confuse people despairing at the continual decay of the english language with criticism of the safari company or the price. Like you I cannot afford to save this much but they have a good reputation and it seems a great discount. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

Still seems high. | |||

If $28K is high, then what's $57K?

The big difference I see comparing the web site prices (50+ K) for a 21 day hunt and the deal here is the removal of Lion from this discounted package. In my mind, that does hurt the value significantly. I would still love to go, mind you, but I am already booked for another hunt during that time. (Also, it is still out of my price range, but that is just details! , Bill

There is no such word as 'irregardless', either. The correct word is 'regardless'. George

Yes, and "past history" is generally considered redundant. I think that was his point. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

This thread is all Greek to me. But then again, without the Greeks, we wouldn't have history. I remember reading somewhere that the Greeks invented three kinds of columns - Corinthian, Doric and Ironic. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

MR, is that where ironic pentameter comes from? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

George, At the risk of quarreling with a Moderator and a NYC resident to boot - my Websters Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary very certainly includes: ir-re-gard-less adj [prob. blend of irrespective and regardless] non stand. : regardless Les

MR Ironically the Ionic column was used for the memorial of our best US president - Ironic because the slender Ionic column is much less appropriate for TR than the simple, direct and republican Doric column. Yes, and "non-stand" means it is incorrect. It is in the same category as "knowed," "throwed," "ain't," "hisself" and other jewels of the English language.

Hello Palmer, Actually you forgot the Corninthian column, most elaborate of them all.

Maybe I am confused (not about the pillars) So its a 21 day hunt at the 25K price which is "discounted" BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY TROPHY FEES. How is that saving you money. Seems like they are ripping you off. Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent. DRSS .470 & .500

i saw a discounted 21 day hunt from Diana . The hunt was with Nigel Archer i Tanzania. it was ca 25 k plus trophys. the hunt cost originally ower 50 k.

How are they ripping anyone off by charging the gov't required trophy fees on game shot by the client? Seems to be a pretty straight forward deal to me. They're cutting their daily rate charges in half in order to fill the spaces. Unless it's a short package hunt you're always liable for the trophy fees on what species you shoot.

Hunter one: 35 animals, including some difficult to get ones, in 23 or so days total. IMHO it sounds moore like shooting than hunting! In good hunting. Andrew McLaren

The list is what you can legally hunt on that licence - rather than a list of every animal you can reasonably expect to hunt during that time period. One of the good things about the Tanzania licencing and quota system is that one has a wide range of animals you can choose to take..... the longer the licence, the wider the variety of species available. you'll find a list of what species you can take on what licence on the Tanzania page of my website.

Les, You might find other non-standard entries in your dictionary, such as 'diss', 'bling', and 'ain't'. That doesn't make them words. George

George, Well we'll just have to agree to disagree, or take this off line. As I understand these things: If it's in the book - it's a word. You may not use it and/or you may not like it but those are not deciding factors [unless, of course, you write the book!] Jriley, No, actually it does not mean it's incorrect. "8.2.2 The stylistic label nonstand for "nonstandard" is used for a very small number of words that can hardly stand without some status label but are too widely current in reputable context to be labeled substand" [which would indicate conforming usage in a community that differs "from that of the prestige group."] [it is also not: obsolete, archaic, slang, dialect or regional] I should think we've wasted enough of EricD's bandwidth at this point. Irregardless, I'm out of here. Les

An interesting observation I made long ago about this site is who it's generally populated with. That is, because of the high cost of worldwide big game hunting, it's an exclusive club, and many of the posters here are self-made type-A personalities who are leaders in their own fields and as a result are very exacting. Not to mention very experienced as well. ___________________________________________________________________________________________
