I really work at protecting my hearing but don't wear ear protection while hunting simply because I really need to hear what is going on around me. I have electronic muffs that work great when shooting on my range but not at all appropriate for the field. I have recently seen these plugs from Surefire that claim to allow for normal conversation yet block out loud noise. They fit inside the ear and no batteries. At about $13 a pair would be just the ticket IF THEY WORK! Anybody have any experience good or bad with these!

I've used these for years and love them for in-the-field use. I used on my last trip to Africa and I could hear my PH the whole time just fine with them in.

I add the muffs when I'm at the range, but other than that this is my go to. Always have a pair in my pocket and another pair or two in my pack. I tend to lose them from time to time.

I bought a set at DSC year before last from Tactical Hearing. They cost about $2k, but they actually enhance hearing as well as blocking loud noise.

I have used them on the range, in Africa and all the time in my woodworking shop.

More costly than what you are looking at and more like a hearing aid, but I'm glad I have them.

That's interesting, I'm going to have to try them out. There are two dealers in town, also.

We have them here, but I really do not find them any better than others at all.

I use similar ones to these, plus an over ear muff when shooting here in the range.

But, for hunting I prefer to have non.
