Aaron: Got it this morning, and just sat down ad watched about half. Have to go to court now and show up for jury duty - maybe it will lighten my mood and make the afternoon tolerable.

Overall, it looks really good and I'm looking forward to the last half tonight. Couple of missed camera angles on the shots and the camera jumping around, but not too bad. Thumbs up, and thanks for sending it so quickly.

Finished watching the second half last night, and enjoyed it also. Those were some very nice cats. Crawling thru the mud sure didn't look like fun!

Questions for you tho - on the one lion (Jack's, I think) the PH stalks up to the shooting spot in tall grass with only the sticks in hand? Was the tracker immediately behind them with PH's rifle, but just out of camera? Seemed risky to me.

On the follow-up to Lary's lion, PH had a tactical shotgun in hand (WTF - on a lion?). Didn't go to the rifle until he saw it was down, and it appeared that was for the camera.

All in all, enjoyable and good shooting on nice trophies. Thanks for the opportunity to watch them.

Watched the video last night. Overall it is pretty good. Photography very good. Missed a few shots, but that's a quibble. A few suggestions; get some of those wireless mikes as it was hard to hear what was said. Identify the trophy and the rifle and caliber used. Similarly, identify the PHs and use them to set up the scene or stalk. I'd add a few more shots of the scenery or the stalk and cut down your lead ins. Your a nice guy but nobody cares about you getting your scope bore sighted.
As I said, overall it was a good effort and I urge you to continue to refine your style. It's a good start.

I have started to receive some good feedback, and some good ideas for Vols. 2 & 3. Most responses have been positive, 1 guy absolutely hated it, but the rest have been fairly pleased! I will definitely take all the suggestions under advisement, and try to make the next videos better!.

Thanks guy, and if anyone who asked for one, doesn't get it, please let me know, ASAP.

Aaron,

Got your video and enjoyed it very much. This is the first "African" video I've ever watched so I'm far from an experienced critic. A couple of things I would have enjoyed seeing is more on the camp and overall hunt experience as opposed to just the shooting of game. Maybe a little more of the hunt background like where you where and how you got there. Anyway I did enjoy it and thank you.

I enjoyed the film. I really don't have any negatives. The film work was great. I did notice some camera jump at the shots, but overall very nice work. Thanks for the opportunity to view it. I will look for vols 2 and 3.

Aaron, Got to watch your DVD this past week and I really liked it. I consider myself an expert on African hunting shows as I have been layed up at home for eight months with a C4-C5 compression in my neck (Shitey workers com ins) and now got the damn shingles. So I spend my time watching anything Africa. I thought it was well done and really enjoyed the cat hunts. There was some great buff action that was good watching. Thanks for offer for us here at AR, it was really appreciated by me and I look forward to other works from your company.

Thanks again, JC

Aaron- I watched the video and want to say that I enjoyed it very much. I thought it a good mix of shooting and lead-ins, the video clarity and quality was quite good. Sound quality was good. I would love to see more of the same.

I watched the critiques here and I see that some said they would prefer more shooting and less dialogue but I found the mix to be just fine.

Keep em coming.

Aaron,

Sorry to take so long in commenting. I enjoyed the video very much. The buffalo charge was interesting.

Only comments are I'd like the participants miked and would appreciate information on calibers used. That stopping shot on the unwounded charging buff had to have at least been a Lott, and maybe much bigger. It almost backed him up.

Looking forward to the next installment.

Jetdrvr - Thanks for all the critique, we will work on making the next ones better. Although most of the footage for parts 2 & 3 has been filmed already, we will add some of the footage from 2009 as well. I will be in Africa for about 6 weeks in 2009, we hope to get at least one lion on film, plus 2 leopard, hopefully 6-7 buffalo and 2 elephants. It should add nicely to all the footage I have for the next 2 installments already!

I think I mirror a lot of TerryR comments. The film quality was very good. It was hard to hear at times. It would have been nice to hear more about rifles used, and also the facilities at each hunt. I guess I would say a little too much shooting. More background/discussion info would have helped. Also agree on the bore sighting pieces. a little hokey.

also, I think the dancing by the hunter in a few sequences was hokey also. I dont mean the native traditional dancing, but the guys trying to yuck it up for the camera I think brought down the overall quality.

IMHO..... overall, though I did enjoy it.

Enjoyed the videos. I would also cut down on the extraneous material (guy ycuking it up, etc...)and focus everything on the Game/Situation/Caliber or Gun/ and show more of the stalk or conversations with the PH. Some really nice trophies taken. I took my lion not far from your hunt. Brought back great memories.

Thank you for the DVD, I really enjoyed watching it. The camera footage was great, the 'action' was great, the shots on game were great, etc., etc..

The native drums playing in the background was a nice touch. My only criticism is one that's already been addressed; the difficulty hearing what the hunters were saying. When the drums came on, I reduced the volume as much as possible yet could still hear them, and when the individuals spoke, I turned the volume up as much as possible but, even then, it wasn't always sufficient.

All in all, it certainly served to whet one's appetite to not only hunt Africa but to contact Global to do so.
