I have only 16 days to go 'till Chirrisa in Zim!

My first BUFFALO HUNT, first trip to ZIM.

I have been waiting for this one ALL MY LIFE, but these last few days are becomming unbearable, the wife thinks I have lost my mind! She is right, it is already in Zimbabwe!!!

My PH is going to be Allen Moody, anybody know him????????

What kind of weather/temps should I expect for the first of August????

All advice is much appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

I am 15 days out for my tenth trip over. Heading to Namibia to join Karl Stumpf for some leopard and elephant action. Starting to get a bit antsy......

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

I can relate. Five days until I board the big bird for Maasailand. I'm having trouble sitting still. But it will be here soon enough, and then over all too soon. But while I'm there, I will live each minute of every day as if it were an hour.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

JTEX, just lay back, relax and enjoy. Seems we had a fellow Texan make that quote during his unsuccessful run for governor some years back.

Just returned from Zim via Bulawayo and had a great experience as I am certain you will.

Best advice I can give as a "first timer" myself is to stay focused the entire time you are in the bush - never know what animal will appear at any moment. It is high, highs and low, lows so don't let that bother you.

Have a safe trip and look forward to pics/report on your return.

Thanks for all the great wishes folks! AR folks are the best!

Since this is my first buffalo / dangerous game hunt, and my first trip to Zim is there any "Gotchas" that I should be on the lookout for?

JTEX, unfortunately I thank there is really no way to prepare for the shock of seeing for the first time the poverty of a total country (not just Zim) and the fact that the base family unit is a tribe not a family!

The hunting part is the best part and one can only hope that your great, great grandchildren to see improvement in the economy and living conditions.
