I do however know where John "Pondoro" Taylors .450 #2 is. In fact I've handled it in the last month.

I think it is sad when these old vintage doubles get locked away into a "collection". Everyone to their own I guess, but they were made as using rifles, for the field, and to sit all oiled and manicured in a display cabinet for the rest of their "lives" seems wrong. Hells Bells they are famous because they were used by a famous hunter!

Just my view anyway. No rifle I own is not a user.

I've dealt with the same problems you suggest. The only answer, in my mind, is that a rifle is made to hunt. I have recieved as much pleasure in hunting with an old and valuable rifle as I have in the actual hunt.

Some people believe that rifles are only tools, like shovels and boots. I know that you do not believe that, rifles have souls and they need to be utilized to be appreciated.

Take your Jeffery, insure it, don't watch the baggage handlers and enjoy carrying the rifle for the puropose it was intended.
