I have a friend who wants a CZ .458 Lott. (American version). He will have the proper papers to import it into his country. Does any one know of a CZ dealer who would have experience in legally exporting a rifle to another country?

Rich as far as I know it is legal to give your friend a rifle as a gift.I called Customs, and ATF before taking a rifle as a gift to Namibia and they had no problem with it.
The rifle is held at the police station until the proper permit is obtained and then you are given a recipt for the rifle in order to show customs in Namibia. I don't know how it works in other countries but that's how it is in Namibia.
Maybe you could take it to him.

Rich,

Please see Simpson's Ltd. . They appear to be almost local. They offer import and export services.

Good Luck,

Les

Russ,

There's no such thing as buying "in country" there unless it's an AK or FAL. Besides that, a CZ bought anywhere else is gonna have that pregnant guppie stock on it.

Shortround,

I was thinking that courtesy of some goofy treaty Clinton signed with the UN that there were State Department issues.

Gents,

There is a State Dept list called the Munitions list which covers not only just about every type of firearm (exceptions are air rifles and shotguns with bbls longer than 18") but also ammunition and ammo components (except empty shotshells). You cannot export any of this stuff without an export permit. You can't even legally leave your brass in a foreign country, if you read the letter of the law.

It's a big pain to get an export permit. Since CZ rifles are exported to most countries around the world, it seems it would be more straightforward to buy the rifle in-country.
