Alf: You make a good point. I think the monometal bullets perform great for larger game. I think the standard soft points are still better for smaller species; I have shot quite a bit of game with X bullets and think they penetrate too good for smaller game. | |||

Spot on, the monolithics and partial monolithics have changed the face of hunting and caliber capability...but then so did Nosler many years ago, It all boils down to more emphasis should be placed on bullet construction than on caliber... | |||

But bullet construction just keeps getting better. I gave away my stockpile of Sierra's and such many, many years ago. I think the Speer AGS solids are much better than monolithics. I haven't seen either bend, but I do not think mono's have as great a penetration. I was reading an old issue of Magnum the other night and in a article by Gregor Woods he mentioned that mono's sometimes have less penetration than typical solids. I was shocked. I thought up til then I was the lone voice in the wilderness. | |||
