Hi fellas,
What do you think of this rifles ? Has anyone real field experience with it ?
It doesn’t have CRF bolt...but is that a real problem or...? I handled the De Luxe type the other day and it felt really nice with great balance.

CChunter, has used it on two trips in Africa last year and I had another Austrian client also using one.

Between them it was about a 25 animal count and I also bagged two animals with the rifle as well. Just needed to get use to the safety system otherwise I dont see any problems with it.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Although I haven't used one I do like this rifle in the 9.3mm - .375 cal range.

ozhunter,

CChunter, used it in a 9.3x62 and 8x68s mostly and the Austrian client with the 375 barrel only.

The detacheable magazine is quite nice and quickly to reload and you get two magazines standard I think so you can keep one loaded in your pocket and quickly swap if you need to.

Here is the rifle with a blue wildebeest. Barrel was 375 H&H

THIS IS NOT TRUE Cool

My count alone was 4 animals in Limpopo, 8 in Free State, and 22 in Namibia. All in all 34 Big Grin

About the rifle it has worked great and I used it also in Sweden, Poland and Scotland last year.

Only problem I had was with full magazine and Kalahari Sand that the first round was sometimes hard to get in right position, but after cleaning tha magazine reguarly it was no problems.

There has been no difference in point of impact after that the rifle has been taken apart and put together again.

The model I have is not the African.

I must say I was impressed by cchunter's mentioned rifle's accuracy. It seemed a good rifle, even with the Kalahari sand.

Most animals taken with the Mauser M03 Action (3 different calibers)a total of 50 animals with that one, then it is a tie between the Varberger (35 Whelen) and the Winchester Safari (375 HH) With 42 animals each.

Karl, I am glad that at least the accuracy was fine while the aiming sometimes failed Big Grin

Is there a story on the broken horn in the pic of the wildebeest, or has it already been told?

UEG

From what I remember there were no story about the broken horn, for sure there must be a story about the hunt as about all hunts but with the horn it was just a old bull and the client wanted to take it.

UEG,

No real big story behind the beest the client was on his second trip hunting in Africa frist time in Namibia and no pun inteneted to the Namibian outfitters but it was a shoot of the bakkie affair all the way. His friend that hunted with him in Namibia passed away the year before and he decided to do a proper on foot hunt.

Anyway we were lucky on the first day to find this old ancient Duiker and since he wasnt interested in records we bumbed into the broken horn wildebeest and told him that would make his collection interesting. And so he went ahead and shot it. The bull was battle worn and he was losing a of hair on his forehead.

Anyway some pics of the ancient duiker I wrote about.

Check out the worn horns on this old chap I have never seen such an old duiker before and am very happy that we bagged this special trophy.

Those old boys are true trophies in my book as well. I shot a very large, but very old Roan bull this year that had part of his left horn broken. Even though he was not perfect, he was an old king that took some outwitting on our part and was a very good trophy bull. Thanks for the story and the photos.
