On the Northfork website they reccomend the .423 380 grain bullets at 2200 fps give or take.
Has anyone taken game with them at .416 velocities?

I shot my 404 Jeffery at 2350 ft/sec. this year in Zambia. I took Cape Buffalo and Hippo with one shot each. Performance was outstanding. I would highly recommend the Northfork bullet. I know that two shots two big animals is not a lot of experience to talk about but Sarge and Peter were amazed at the performance. They had never seen a one shot kill on buffalo like they saw with the Northfork. My hunting partner took the same pair with .416 bullets at 2350 ft/sec.. Both were one shot kills and no excuses.

I shot three of the North Fork FN at 9 paces into head of cow elephant and none of them deformed.

Velocity from 450 Dakota was 2550 fps or more (it was 120 degrees F).

The 450 grain 458's I used have same SD as a 370 grain 416 or 380 grain 404.

The reason I ask is that Northfork refers to the construction of the .404J bullets in 380 grain weights to be used at lower velocities than 2500 fps, however they do note that they have tested up to 2500 fps with good results.

Just wondering as in process of developing a new load.
