I am not sure where to post this, so hopefully someone on the site will have some information. We are wanting to make some pillows out of our african backskins. I have found one company that can do this - Walden & Bork out of Wisconsin. Anyone know anyone else who can do this?

My taxidermist, www.naturesdesigntaxidermy.com has a source. You might call them. I had mine done with the tails draping over the top and they look great! "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

Here's a guy just down the road from you. Bob Wilkins does excellent work - I have quite a few pillows he has made from backskins. www.wildlifeartistry-texas.com

i made my own out of springbok hides tanned with the hair on. just cut the hide in a rectangular shape, twice the size desired for the finished pillow. using a small leather punch, make a series of holes all the way around the perimeter about a half inch apart(punching from inside-leather side- outward. using a rawhide lace( like a VERY long boot lace), fold the hide over on itself and start lacing it up, using an X stitch if crossing the 2 ends of the lace or a whip stitch if using only 1 end of the lace. when the third side is almost closed, fill the pillow with whatever stuffing you prefer. the materials( leather punch, lacing, stuffing) are all available at any craft store. takes about one and a half hours per pillow and you have the satisfaction of having done it yourself. everyone who has seen the ones i made lying on my trophy room couch has remarked on how nice they look. give it a try! I have used Richard Sanders at Walden and Bork and was happy with the work. "shoot quick but take your time"
