I've been searching for the threads on this and can't find them. Can someone help out a search-impaired poster? Thanks, Okie John.

Are there even any native species of sheep in Africa?

Aoudad (Northern Africa) - although i read somewhere recently where there were more Aoudad sheep in Texas than in Africa.

Barbary sheep/Aoudad. Not sure if they can be hunted in their original Saharan habitat these days?

Do sheeple count? There seem to be concentrations of them around UN flags. Good repots from Dafur and the Sudan right now.

Nickudu had the link -- why am I not surprised? You've kind of become our librarian around here. Thanks very much.

I think the name in this case applies more to us as African hunters, rather than any sheep in Africa.

Once we have tasted Africa, we are led by the nose to our next, and next, and next....safari

These sheep can be hunted legally in Sudan with an outfitter I know. They can be hunted (and unfortunately are hunted) illegally in Egypt as well. It is much cheaper under any circumstance (whether the cost be dollars as in Sudan or potential imprisonment as in Egypt) to hunt them out of the free roaming herds that roam west Texas. We are talking the difference between $2500 USD in Texas and $12500 USD in Sudan.

Best,

Dork Lord;

I believe RIP was referring to one Chadwick who shot the world record stone (if I remember correctly) sheep with a .404...

Rip and Chadwick,
Are and were out of touch with reality, Rip has yanked too many good molars to support his hunting addiction and chadwick was a heroin junkie with 3 tits, I mean why else would anyone use a 404 on sheep, or in RIPs case build a 404 on a plastic and stainless steel rifle, that, my friends, is akin to sodomy, child molestation and premarinpurmozadimulas...!! and they both should have been stringhaultered and gilflurted......
