I wondered on how much will a modest price of big game hunting come on ?

Isit it posiible to participate on a culling of buffalo ?

Compared to hunting in Alaska or Europe, hunting in Africa is a bargain except perhaps for lion and heavy-tusked elephant.

We can offer you a 7 day hunt 1x1 including a record-class Nyala, plus a Red Duiker or Kudu, couple of warthogs, impala, and duiker for $5K including airport transfers and delivery of your capes to the local taxidermist.

We can do a similar hunt 2x1 for the same price but including more species.

I don't think there is any free buffalo hunting in Africa. If I knew of such a hunt, I would be there in a flash myself. You can do an elephant "cull" (PAC) hunt but that will run you $5K and no trophy other than your picture.

If you really want to go on a budget, we do a fantastic 6 day/7 night bird shoot (guineas/francolin/doves)that includes two days of 2x1 hunting for free ranging kudu/impala/bushbuck/duiker/steenbok/warthog for $1200 plus trophy fees on the antelope. I don't think you can beat that. In Europe, you can spend that on a bird hunt in two days.

Below is a copy of a message I posted in another thread yesterday. Be aware of the date of my hunt; prices MIGHT have changed a bit since. -TONY

I hunted with JohnX Safaris on the East Cape of RSA in 2003 and paid the FULL amount -- no discounts. Before I actually booked with them, though, I compared the basic hunt cost and additional trophy fees for more animals to many, many other outfitters.

The long and short of it -- it cost me a hair under $10,000 for everything involving John X. The cost included lodging, food, alcohol, tips, VAT, trophy prep and PH/tracker, of course.

The original 1-on-1, 10-day hunt was $4,995, which included an impala, springbok, kudu, gemsbok and blesbok. I added a nyala (highest trophy fee at $1,700), zebra, bushbuck, warthog and both blue and black wildebeests. My PH threw in an extra springbok ram because I wanted one for a full rug. That's a total of 12 critters.

All, including the free springbok, were above-average specimens, with about 80% large enough to make the SCI books. Plus, the accomodations, food and every other service were top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend John X to anyone.

The bad news, the airfare and everything AFTER the hunt cost me about $12,000 more. -TONY

You can get Buff in South Africa for about $5000.00 trophy fee, but then you have to be prepared to leave on short notice (1 week).
7 days at $400.00 per day will add another $2800.00 on top. I do not know if that falls into the "modest price" you had in mind, but it is as cheap as Buffalo in SA will get.

We had one like that last year, but none this year, so it is not as if these deals are easy to get.
