Their website shows $133 for a box of 416 Rem. Mag 400 gr. A Frames. No prices shown for anything larger. I'm sure glad I reload when I see prices like that.

Here's a link to Graf's and Midway USA for some comparisons. Both are already listing the Swift Ammo.

Looks to me like Swift decided to make their own (or have someone make for them) instead of selling only components as I can't seem to find any listings of Federal or Remington loading bullets.

THese look great.

But, the ones I have used in a 7mm Lazzeroni Firehawk all lost the lead from the rear end.

That is why I prefer all copper bullets for my own hunting.

No question of that ever happening.

Mind you, one can never really be 100% certain of a bullet's performance - despite what all the manufacturers claim!

I make my own, out of copper rod.

And sometimes we get copper rods that have minute faults in them.

It is normally easy to sort these out. Like the center of teh rod would have a tiny cut.

We also weight each bullet, and if there is any jump in bullet weight we know that bullet is faulty, and only use it for practice.

Despite all this, we have had two occasions where the bullets did not perform as they should have been.

One actually killed a buffalo bull, and the pieces we found on the other side under the skin were shattered pieces!!

One did even worse.

I hit the bull on the shoulder, and he hobbled for a few yards, unable to walk.

Another bullet into the head dropped him.

We found out that the first bullet completely destroyed his shoulder - turning the bones into what looked like sand!!

And no part of the bullet was found at all.

Is it that the bullets did not perform as expected or were they shot at too high a velocity for their construction?
A .38-55 bullet will mushroom just fine at the expected velocity but will disintegrate if shot from a .374 H&H.
I think most bullets will do well within their limitations. Including lead.

The velocity might have been too high for them.

They did kill the animal they have shot at - in this case a waterbuck, but penetration was not very good.

I have also had very bad penetration from Barnes X if driven at very high velocity.

I think we were getting 3140 fps with the 300 grain Barnes X.

I throttle back my own hunting ammo to about 2800 fps, for best penetration.
