I guess I have to subscribe to Sports Afield since I can't find it on the shelves anywhere around here and Cabelas in Hamburg, PA is just too tempting in terms of $$$ ... Having hunted leopard and elephant with Karl Stumpfe and having faced 3 mock charges and two full-on real charges with him, I can personally say that I "lived" the experience described in SA herein: Click Here for why a good PH is a good thing to have ... Now whether Karl would have been "crushed by the falling elephant" or it simply would have bounced off of him is a different matter entirely. Karl would say that given his enormous ... uhhh ... strength, he would simply have pushed it off but some of the ladies in Windhoek seemed unimpressed when asked about his prowess ... in any event, Karl is a great guy and in my experience an exceptional PH. I am truly happy to have hunted with him and plan to do so again. It was great to read of this exploit as a reminder of the job that he (and Buzz and Ivan and a whole host of others) have to be ready to face when they take people like me into the field. Many thanks to the PHs who put their lives on the line every day ... A tip of my hat to Botswana PH Gareth Flemix who was super cool when 14 bull eles took great offence when we shot one of their buddies. Actually, a tip of the hat to all dangerous game PHs and their trackers!! They are a most impressive lot!! | |||
