Bill,

I have read Elephant Song. I Liked it. Started another one of his books...can't remember the name, then I lost it. Something with Leopard in the title I think....

Oh well...

I've read 8 or so of his books and enjoy his writing style. Like most prolofic authors, some are better than others. The Elephant song is a great read.

I've read I think 16 of his books my favorite is leopard hunts in darkness with Elephant Song a close one behind it.

By the way if any of you would like to know about RSA in the apartheid era read the book Rage excellent and will give you an idea how everything was set together.

He also has two different stories of two families going 3-4 generations I can only remember the Courtney familie at the moment. Try and follow one of the Families trough his books you get to learn a lot of African history.

Yep

I've read a lot of his books, though I think the last 3 or so set in Southern Africa were getting lame.

The last ones he has written are set in Ancient Eqypt (still Africa) and are good value again.

Check out Bartle Bull's 2 or 3 novels set in East Africa.

One of the characters is loosely based on Bunny Allen.

I've read a bunch of Willbur Smith books.

One of my favorites are the first book in the Hapi series. I liked all the books I`ve read by him, but the last book in the Hapi series was in my mind just milking the last drop out of the story. The other ones where better.

Is there anyone who is interested in African Hunting who hasn't read them? [Smile] The Courteney family saga is my favourite but they are all really good. [Smile]

I loved the "River God" trilogy, "Sunbird", "Elephant Song", "A Time to Die", "Shout at the Devil" and others, but the ones that take place in 1600-1800s are boring.

I've read them all and own most of them. My favorite is "CRY WOLF", naturally. It's a tale set in Ethiopia during the Italian Invasion in 1936 but has some hunting in it too!
