I just picked up a female German Shorthair Pointer puppy today.
I already have, or have had a "Magda", "Uta" and "Petra". I need a good German girl name.
Thanks,

A German woman I met once was named Uli. I am not really sure how it was spelled though. But it was pronounced Oooh-lee.

Congrats on the new pup!

Take a look here for some ideas

Shows names and their meaning. Amazing what kind of worthless info you can find on the internet.

I vote "Sarah"

We had a German girl for an exchange student last year named Sarah. She was a sweetheart but definitely had a lot of spunk!

And so if you meet a hunter who has been to Africa, and he tells you what he has seen and done, watch his eyes as he talks. For they will not see you. They will see sunrises and sunsets such as you cannot imagine, and a land and a way of life that is fast vanishing. And always he will will tell you how he plans to go back. (author: David Petzer)

Anja - pronounced Un-ya (Un as in onions)

It's down to Ilsa, Ushi or Ulli.

Lois likes Ilsa the best, but I got some today so I can hold out for a while.

Ulli sounds sweet.

Ushi will carry the best on the wind; almost as well as "Goddamnit You Son-Of-A-Bitch", which is what all the city-slickers from Boise call their dogs.

Someone stole Petra last week. I offered a $250.00 reward for her return, no questions asked, $500.00 for information leading to arrest & conviction of dognapper(s) and a $250.00 bonus if they get hurt being taken into custody.

I'm sorry to hear that John, what scum would do something like that?? I did like your reward system, though. Cool

Ushi is a very common German girls name. It is probably spelled Uschi, and is really short for Ursula.

I am very, very sorry to hear about Petra. I sincerely hope everything ends well.

I like the german pointers very much myself, am going to get at wirehaired pup next spring. Was visiting the breeder yesterday acutally.

A name... I agree with JD that Steffi is a very good name, two-syllable as a good dog name should be and carries well.

John, please post if there is any news about Petra.

Regards,
Martin

She really responds to Uschi, so that will be it. Lois tried it out this morning on her and decided she really likes the name also.

Magda (six years old) and Uschi are getting along well.

People around here steal hunting dogs in the summer and use them throughout the season.

I am going to look into getting a satellite tracking chip. The next thief won't think it is so funny when they are caught red-handed with a $5,000.00 dog and a class 2 felony charge.

My parents had there little scottie yearling pup stolen last year and then they found it about 3/4 of a mile away.

The family that "found" it wasn't going to give it up. Said finders keepers and possession is 3/4 of the law. My mother told the people the dog (Cabela was her name they bought her while on a trip there) had a microchip and she would be calling the police. That did the trick and they got her back, then she dissapeared about 2 weeks later, and never returned.

Here in Spain one my sailors had two of his Doberman pups stolen. Same deal, microchips bluff and he got them back, and then they dissapeared for good a few days later.

People who steal dogs, aren't people they are shit monsters. troll

I had to finally open this thread. "Need a Name" threads DO NOT run to 500+ views and 30+ posts. Either someone names the PH, gunsmith or safari company or not pretty quickly.

But then I saw the question. A dog. Man, this thread will never end. Big Grin

I'd suggest Leni, BTW. Cool
