Hi Guys

For those of you who enjoy reading Wilbur Smith, he has released his latest book Assegai and not to spill the beans on the plot. it is a good read, bought it on Saturday and finished it last night, it was a good read with plenty of hunting in it, big ele, big lion, big everything. also has some two legged upright hunting in it with a good couple of dust up between all sorts

If you have read it let me know what you think.

it's on sale from 10 days here. Got last week and yet finished. Absolutely the best hunting book of mr. Smith: hundreds of pages of safari's adventures with Kermit Roosevelt and others. Great Great.

Glad to hear it is good. I thought his last couple were a bit weak.

I pre-ordered a signed edition of Assegai a couple of days ago.

I went to Abe Books and saw where Smith's signed early first edition books are worth hundreds of dollars. Smith is still alive and his books already make good investment.

I see Barnes & Nobel will have it for sale here in the states on May 12th for $27.95 list price or $20.96 on line in Hard Cover. How much is it selling for in RSA or other places?

I read them all before I went on Safari, I had a hard time getting into the last couple about the magical egyptian wizard. Judging form the title I wil probably enjoy it.

Are there any other authors that write similar books that you guys would recommend?

Used to find a lot of Wilbur Smith's stuff in Nairobi and also in Cairns, Australia. I'm a real fan of his African stuff, but the last couple didn't do much for me. Looking forward to reading this one.

What are Smith's best books with a strong hunting connection? I have read Elephant Song and The Sound of Thunder. They were both good, but I enjoyed Elephant Song more. Just started When the Lion Feeds.

For what it's worth, my favorite Wilbur Smith book was 'Shout at the Devil'. Bit of elephant hunting in that one.

My wife surprised me today with Assegai she and the kids were shopping in Windhoek and got hold of a hardcover for me. Smiler

The Egyptian novels was my least favourite, not really into that stuff.
