After my 21days hunt In TZ I will explore Uganda with my camera. What is a must to do and with Parks should I avoid. Wonder there are any Hunters out there have already hunted in the last few Years this Country . r. Seloushunter Nec Timor Nec Temeritas

Its a cool place!!! I am also searching for info on Ugandan hunting (current). Ted is involved with some their. If you feel like a bit of 'adrenal adventure', go to Bujagali Falls near Jinja and visit Nile River Explorers Camp (nice restuarant with great view etc) and take a raft trip with them. The Hairy Lemon camp about 40 kms downstream is a neat place too. Take a boda-boda there instead of a car....its fun! I really do look forward to my next trip to Uganda to see more of the country! Hi, I've been fortunate to travel to Uganda twice (and I imagine I am the rare U.S. army officer who was once promoted there). There are a lot of interesting things to do - I did the Mountain Gorilla trek in Mahgahinga Nat'l Park - saw about ten gorillas, and had a big silverback walk past me at ~10 yds - made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Another neat thing to do, if you are interested, is a whitewater rafting trip on the Nile - you can do a good day trip. The company I did it with is called "Adrift" and they have an office in Kampala. I've had the opportunity to travel all around Africa and Uganda is one of my favorite places. MR Matt Romagnuolo

Mboga biga bwana, Not much can be added to what has already been written above, but in addition to the gorillas in Mahgahinga (no other animal encounter I've had has been as cool as when I was within arms length of several gorillas in the jungle!), Murchinson Falls N.P (beware the elephant there, as they are some of the nastiest I've been around!), and rafting at Jinja, I'd recommend you give river boarding a try while you're there too. Great fun, and crocs aren't much of a problem. Kampala is actually a pretty decent city too for that sake. All in all, I'd have to say that Uganda is one of my very favorite African countries, and it isn't for nothing that it was called the "Pearl of Africa". Ps. Do a search here on AR, and you'll find a few more posts regarding Uganda.

Is Uganda Safe? ****************************************************************** R. Lee Ermey: "The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle." ****************************************************************** We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! As long as you don't visit the region just south of Sudan, yes. In fact, I'd go so far as to say: very! Uganda also has what I have found to be probably the friendliest people out the the 22 African countries I've been to.

In the time I spent there (only in the southern regions around the nile), its was very safe. In fact, the only thing we were warned about being stolen were our rescue knives out of our PFD's that would hang, with all our other expensive gear from trees over-night. I left everything in my tent, no hassles, as did all the other paddlers there, sometimes for months. Obviously we locked out passports/credit cards/cash in a friends house or company safe...but I look after this stuff no matter where I travel! People are really great!! As Erik said, it seems only a the N and NE that may be no -go zones. I would love to go NW to Kidepo Nat park. That area also sometimes a a travel warning. The Karamajong sometimes have a skirmish or two over cattle. Sometimes you hear its fine, other times its not advisable. What I hear now is that its OK? I believe the govt. was busy with a forced disarmament programme for the Karamajong? (lots of SKS's kicking about apparently). Photos I saw of Kidepo were great! Oh yes, if you are at Murchison, cast some crankbaits for Nile Perch. There are outfitters in various places. I missed this opportunity (next trip!). They are great sport fish and very good eating! (picture a largemouth bass at 80 lbs with an attitude! They seem to avergae about 10-80lbs but can reach 200
