I have two long time clients who want to hunt buffalo; one wants a kudu and one an eland as well. I will be along and plan to do some hunting for whatever tickles (sable is my only must have but I recognize you don't find sable and eland in the same place unless it's a zoo and we avoid those), and will try to find a fourth to make up 2 parties of 2. So default is to go back to Zim for the n'th time but we are open to "creative suggestions". We are partial to some bird hunting as time allows as well. PM me with ideas.

Russ:

I got a very nice eland and sable this year in Western Tanzania. Three buffalo too. PM me if you are interested. Not a zoo by any stretch, but plenty of game and cats.

Somewhere like Nkala in the middle Kafue could accommodate you for all desired species including a big Sable. Can put you in touch with the operator if you would like?

Some very good buff and eland came out of here.

I am hoping there are two buffalo left on private land or tribal land somewhere in Botswana ... that is one place these guys have not hunted and the Eland is a must have (client's third try). The Sable is not.

Another option is to split the hunt into two different locations. I certainly would recommend giant Kudu and Eland in Botswana. Maybe Jan Dumon could help you with the buff across the border?

I have it on good authority that there are ZERO buffalo available in Botswana as gov't prohibits buffalo on private land (and all govt land is closed)

I was in touch with Jan Dumon earlier about buffalo but it seems the buffalo area is buffalo only, no plains game, and we don't want to commute or split up.

There are many places in RSA now offering buffalo (with PG) so it seems the choice is narrowed down to a ranch hunt; or Zim again.

Or the mid Kafue. Renowned Zim PH Greg Michelson has taken on a couple of fine concessions here.

You can not go wrong in the bubye or save valley from august to november for buffalo, eland and kudu. This is when the eland come into the rut and get their big roughs.

In northern mozambique i recommend Derek Littleton of Luwire. Again i would start a little later like late august or early september.
