You could argue that I live right here and should not be asking this question on the board, but the rate at which internal firearm regulations change, I would not be surprised if the same applies to visiting foreign hunters. The last thing I can afford is to have my clients harassed at the airport. The client I have hunting with me right now had left his guns at home and is using mine, but my other clients of 2004 are all bringing their our shooting gear. I have given them the usual on SAPS 311 and references to the PHASA and SA Police Services web sites, but is there something else that I have overlooked? Thanx. Lochi.

Here is the latest info that I have found - You will need a copy of your passport, and a completed US Customs form 4457. Also they are talking about producing a letter from your sheriff, in the form of an affidavit to confirm ownership OR an invoice from the dealer from whom you purchased the firearm/s. There is still some confusion about the interpretation of the SAPS laws - go figure. I would strongly suggest that folks consider using the services of Air 2000. They can assist with the issuing of the SAPS 311/312 temporary permit. They are worth every penney in my opinion for first timers. It can be very confusing for most folks. Here is their web site... http://www.hunterssupport.com/
