Hi,

Just got back from Namibia, I´ll be posting a report with pics soon.

The abovementioned trip was a "working holiday" so it doesn´t count as a hunt! I´ll be taking the family to Limpopo in March (a seven day hunt) and my wife would like to spend a week in Cape Town. Could anyone recommend a place to stay, how to arrange tours etc. I don´t want to rent a car as driving on the wrong side of the road is against my religion!

Hello cewe /

I do hope you are keeping well and that will be nice to be visiting Limpopo Province in March with the family.

I suggest that you FIRST contact Cavendish Guns in Cape Town as apart from them being the Courtney Boot Company (local regional representitive) they will also have (very good local knowledge) and be able to advise you accordingly, you might even find a nice pair of hunting boots there (-:

I know some years ago now good friend (Dusty Miller) was running (Cavendish Guns) ... if Dusty is still there he will be MOST HELPFUL ..

I suggest you make contact and ask the questions, in any event it is well worth a visit JUST to look at the GUNS and talk hunting and travel with them.

Cavendish Guns
1 Niekerk Lane,
Claremont 7735,
Cape Town
e-mail: sales@cavendishguns.com

Also,

If you do (perhaps ?) visit with Tino in Limpopo Province pass on my regards to him, also if you maybe had an opportunity to see my brother whom is ranching nearby Tino, then also pass on my regards to Alan & family.

Cheers and good luck, let me know if you make contact at all and if you get some satisfaction as well.

Peter

Thanks Peter,

I always visit at least one gun store in every town I visit. I found good used .416 Rigby dies and cases in Louis Trichardt (the owner also has a store in Messina) etc.

But the wife wants to do Cape Town and possible some of the wine district. I remeber that someone from that area used to post here...clues gentleman?

I stayed at the Cape Heritage Hotel last summer. My wife did not go with me, but I kept thinking that she would really have enjoyed the place. Cape Heritage Hotel

The hotel suggested that we contact Lesley Cox to set up some tours. She took us to the wine country for a day and to the Cape for a half day. She was a very good tour guide. The wine country was spectacular. Her website did not work when I tried it. Her e-mail is amberwines@wol.co.za

I would also recommend that you take a day to climb Table Mountain. Other than my hunt, that was the highlight of my trip. The gondola was being repaired while we were there so we hiked up and down. If the gondola works, I suggest a hike up and a ride back down.

I would also recommend that you eat at the Codfather if it is still open. We had a great meal there.

That other gentleman is Klaus ( AKA sunshine on AR) he and his wife will also be able to advise you for sure ...

Here is a webpage link below explaining their wines, it also indicates their DIRECT company webpage as well

Have a wonderful trip, maybe FIRST contact Klaus and Uschi Schindler ( German's of cause) as I am sure you will not regret it, they will be MOST helpful

Hi guys,

I´ve emailed Lesley, hope to get an answer soon. The Heritage looks mighty fine but with two kids in the family we might need something a bit more mundane.

Still open for ideas.
