"Well, I finished Hunting Africa's Dangerous Game by our very own William E. Stewart Jr. and I have to honestly say that I curse the author for waking up the elephant hunting demon that has been lying dormant in me. Elephants have always been at the top of my must hunt list, but because of Bill Stewart, hunting elephant is at the forefront of my thoughts.

In essence, every chapter is a lesson learned based on real live experience and not just theory with colorful stories and examples starting with defining dangerous game hunting, and then moving on to appropriate caliber selection. Once that foundation is layed, Bill moves into hunting Africa's bad boy , the cape buffalo. Next Bill moves on to Africa's cats, the leopard and the lion. After reading about Bill Stewart's leopard hunting exploits, I don't think I want to do it! He did succeed in whetting my appetite for hunting lion though!

Chapter 12 tells a harrowing tail of an elephant hunt that resulted in a full-blown charge by an irate cow that required a number of shots to bring to a halt. Being his son-in-law's initiation to elephant hunting, I can't help but think that he was traumatized to some degree.

Chapter 13 I found to be particularly useful. It provides a comprehensive look at shot placement when attempting to brain Jumbo. Included are many photographs of elephant skulls, and elephants in various poses providing a modicum of different shot opportunities, again backed by stories of actual hunts by the author. Nothing speaks louder to me than experience!

My only complaint is that there isn't more! Are you listening Bill?! When will we see Hunting Africa's Dangerous Game, the sequel?"

You self-promotion skills are good. Shameless and immodest, but good.
