OK - not trying to start a panic or make a mountain out of a mole-hill but I would appreciate some clarification on the status of Blue Duiker in the Eastern Cape, RSA. I have learned that this species has been added to an "endangered species" list of sorts and that permits are now very limited. (Please note - I do not know whose list this is and this is one of my questions: Is this a provincial list, a list for all of RSA, a USF&WS list, or has the Blue Duiker been added to one of the CITES appendices?) Apparently there are no more available (legally) for this year. at least in the EC.

Can anyone shed some light on this development? Was this something that happened very recently? Aside from the obvious, and assuming this is correct, was there any specific reason(s) for this action being taken?

Thanks for further details.

I can't answer your question, but I spent ten days in Zambia trying to get one and was unsuccessful. I saw a few, but they are slippery little bastards. Good luck.

If you want Blue Duikers, go to Coutada 10 in Mozambique. The woods there hold Blue Duiker and lots of Suni as well. Cool little animals.

As Biebs says the Zambesi delta is the place for these guys. I shot red and blue duiker plus suni in 3 days there. There are lots of all 3 species there. I just recently rec'd mine from Mozambique with no importation problems on any of these litte guys.
