Does anyone know whether there exists a dedicated magazine about DG hunting ? There are several good hunting magazines and African hunting magazines that have been mentioned and discussed in this forum, but I never came across a magazine exclusively about DG hunting. Does it exist?

I've never seen one either.

The biggest problem in having such a magazine would be the cost to writers. Even with steep discounts very few writers could afford DG. Magazines and books simply don’t pay enough to justify such trips or trophies.

True, many DG hunters do write about their adventures but it’s usually for “club†magazines such as Safari. Because these hunters aren’t usually writers first and foremost I think, most of the time, the story suffers.

Yes, I’m a writer and understand this may come off as vain but that’s just how I see (read) it. Is that bad?

There are magazines dedicated to things like bear hunting, and the like, but nothing in my view that would be a DANGEROUS GAME magazine! First off, I don't think there would enough factual info on enough hunts, along with good pictures to fill even four issues per year.

I certainly wish there were such a magazine, because that is the only hunting that really interests me. All other game are practice for DG hunts, or simply something to do between DG hunts! beer

Probably not dedicated. As there were a plains game, grouse and pronghorn hunt in the issue. But I find Under Wild Skies to be close enough. If I could find another issue I would buy it in a instant. Enjoyable read.

The best "magazine" on DG hunting is Burger's book - Horned Death. It is almost all about DG.

I have a subscription for Under Wild Skies, and it is close, but still not totally dedicated to dangerous game!

There are many BOOKs that are mostly dangerous game, but few magazines that are even close!

Since it seems no dedicated dangerous game magazine exists, it strikes me there are two possible remedies:

1. A member here with deep pockets launch such a venture as a start up. It likely won't be cheap.

2. We set an intermediate goal of persuading an existing magazine, via a deluge of letters to the editor, to dedicate an issue to the subject. For U.S. readers the target magazine might be Sports Afield. You can let the editor know how you feel at letters@sportsafield.comIf you would like to contribute to that special issue, writer's guidlines can be found at Writer's Guidelines

Sorry if I messed up the links.
