I am fully aware it is not a hunting topic but it has more to do with the antis:

Last weekend my son and a friend were out in the deep blue live-baiting for Marlin but ended up with a 600lb Bull shark which was brought alongside after a 4 hour battle.

We normally release sharks but due to the monstrous size of this particular one, the angler chose to keep it.

After landing it at the Yacht Club it was eventually dragged to a point where a forklift with telescopic arms could raise it high enough off the ground for weighing.

A couple of activist protectors of marine life got to know of this dastardly accomplishment and took it upon themselves to create a furor over the demise of the only shark landed at the club for the past 2 years.

But no reaction was observed when told they should visit the 2 fish markets in Dar where sharks of different species including Blue Pointers and Basking sharks, Mantas, etc. are regularly being landed and butchered.

Its just a matter of time until when they will descend in force on fishermen as well.

Killing bill fish is a no no even by fishing standards.

Shark fishing from shore will be regulated in Florida.

Lots of British anglers in Thailand have started to require much more safe release equipment - Mats etc.

A lot of my animal right activist friends eat fish Wink. I find that funny.

A few fishing Facebook pages (where a lot of interment info on fishing has moved too) don’t allow pictures of dead fish.

I don’t eat fish and could catch and release most fish. But I also don’t swim too well and have learned throwing back a dogtooth tuna would result in me swimming back.

Before the antis - a lot of fishing folk will object to various stuff.

I need to go fish with your son in the next few years.

Cooking up an Ahi steak tonight! I only throw back fish that aren't legal to keep. The rest go into my freezer.

They have always targeted fishing. When I was in Cincinnati I would get leaflets that had a man in typical fishing gear and Hemmingway mustache with evil eyes ripping the guts out of a generic looking fish that was alive and crying. Junior was at the arm of Dad. That was in 2010-2013. I would get a leaflet like that twice a year.

At the top of the leaflet was banner front, “YOUR DAD IS A MURDER!”

Whoever, was leaving me those did not know my father raised limousine cattle. He gave me my first calf to raise when I was eight. We ate him.

Makes the mind boggle. The world rather see the demise of healthy outdoor activities for alternatives like drugs and violent crime.

Their minds are boggled and such is the reason.

It's not moral objections per se - activists will target anything where they can cry "Donate now!", further enriching themselves. Otherwise, these people might have to work for a living.

One reason I never “donate” to any organization.

I help who I know needs help, without a third party involved.

I have also helped others stop donating to so called “conservation” or “ nature “ organizations!

Once you show them the facts, many people realize that all these are nothing but lining up their own pockets!

I was walking my dog by a local grocery not long ago and there was a table set up for SPCA or HSUSand they solicited me for a donation as I was with my Lab. I responded that their adverts were entirely misleading with the dogs in cages, but the leaders or the orgs have a far more reaching goal.

What’s even more sad is seeing some people soliciting outside the Apple store for veterans. I do not believe them to be true as to their purpose, or at least to the extent they should be.
