If one was dumb enough to buy a .404 Jeffery, are there any cheap dies around?

Hey Will,

I was dumb enough to have a custom 400 Tembo (shortened 404 Jeff necked to .400) built on a CZ550 action. Barnes makes 370 grain X bullets in .400 and you can only get them through the fellow that built the rifle. Then I got smart enough to have Dan Pedersen rebore and rechamber it to 404 Jeffrey--in process now. My dies came from CH4D but I haven't used them yet. If I recall they cost about $96.

Will,

Got a set in yesterday from Ch4d, think I paid $138 plus $8.35 for shipping (three die set). Was the best price I could find, one place I didn't call was Lyman and didn't think about it until I had these on the way.

I would bet a set could be bought cheaper, that $138 is going to wreck my life style, but thats a lot of money for a set of dies.

Will-

Check with Graf and Sons. Their website shows that Redding Custom dies are in stock @ $115. I have a set that I paid a little more for @ Georgia Precision (They had to order them, but it didn't take long to get them.)

I really like the Redding dies.

I see some of you mention a company named CH4D. How is their equipment (presses, dies etc) compaired to other companys like Forster, RCBS and so on?

ErickD,

The 404 dies I bought from Ch4d was first thing I had ever bought from them, untill a few weeks ago, I had never heard of them. They are really good to do business with over the phone and had the dies in stock. The machine work on the dies is impressive, my guess they will do fine.
