We need to sell our Mahenge North quota in Tanzania and it is late in the year. Adam has authorized me to offer buffalo hunts at what I consider bargain prices.

1x1 7 days $7900 2 buffalo

2x1 7 days $6500 2 buffalo each hunter

4x2 7 days $6000 2 buffalo each hunter

We also can do 2 back to back 7 day hunts allowing the hunter 4 buffalo.

These hunts include:

Conservation fee
Hunting permit
Trophy handling
Dip/pack
2 gun permits
Road transfer from Dar Es Salaam to Mahenge and return

Not included:

Charter if desired
trophy fees
International flights
Hotels before and after safari if necessary
Gratuities
Shipping of trophies

This is the best deal we will ever offer and it is with our company on our concessions and with our PH's.

Contact me anytime for details.

Oooouch! 4 buff for the price of two!!! (well, almost!) These kinda things are REALLY painful to see for those that booked well in advance at full rates. Almost makes you want to cry! Wink Big Grin

This is a phenomenal rate for anyone that wants a buff. I agree with the Judge...borrow the $$ if you have to. Smiler Check out Saeed's hunt report from last year if you want to see the concession. Mahenge North

Canuck:

Mark says that they have a spanking new camp that is even nicer than where Saeed stayed. I think some of the really great dates are still available, too.

The normal (warthog, impala, zebra, wildebeest and kongoni) are available, too, I think...

One could take two buffalo of reasonable size, fly to Dar, stay in a hotel, pay $1K in tips, take two buffalo (fees of $1.2k on first, $1.5k on second)... and see real Tanzania in the East African style for about $12K if the 4x2 was done... if I have my math right.

While many packages include the first buffalo, a $7.2k seven day hunt (even at 4x2) with a reputable outfit is pretty darn rare.

This isn't an April Fool is it?

Am not gonna be happy that I found this thread so late if it is real!!!

Is the charter a good idea? What does it cost? What does an observer cost? How basic a camp is it?

No April fools! A charter is about $3000 RT for the airplane a 7-8 hour road transfer is included in the hunt price. Observer is $250 per day. The camp is a basic good qulaity safari camp with nice tentage, ensuite baths etc. The camp is not on the level of our Masailand camps but neither is the price. Service and equipment will be very nice and please do bring your wife or whoever they'll really enjoy it.

Contact me anytime for further details.

Mark,
Just so I understand correctly, your prices above include 2 buffalo per hunter? Or will $2700 in trophy fees be on top of your price?

What is the trophy quality like for Mahenge North?

The trophy fee is not included. Look at Saeed's
hunt report. They took enough buffs there to get a good estimation.

Guys,

The trophy fees are not included but the base price covers everything else. No extras to snag you later.

As for trophy quality we expect even a 2x1 7 day hunt to generate a toal of 4 hardheaded buffalo between 36"and 38". A 1x1 safari or the 14 day option might produce more 38" plus bulls. Being that it is hunting any of the hunts could generate 40" plus but I wouldn't hold off shooting looking for one on a 7 day hunt.

Questions????

Mark,
Seven full days of hunting or 5 days hunting and 2 days out and back from Dar?

Is it in the boundary of the Selous or just to the west? If outside, peopleliving there?

Thanks,

This is 7 full days of hunting with a full 7 day license for every hunter. Mahenge borders K1,K2 in the Selous. There is some human habitation on the western border but with our full time anti-poaching this should not be a problem. The area is basically 1000 sq.miles of unspoiled bush.

Crunching these numbers - this is a heck of a deal. It would make a great first buffalo hunt for somebody, $10,600 1x1 all-in for 2-buffalo & 7-days... I've just seen a hunt like this in the Selous being advertised for $16,000.

What I find intriguing given the reasonable cost is doing two hunts back-to-back, and shooting 4 buffalo. 2x1, with everything as listed and including trophy fees for 8 buffalo (!), it would come to $18,400 ea - and you'd get to track buffalo for 14 straight days if you wanted to. What a blast this would be.

It is also worth noting that Adam and Mark are local and readily available before and after the trip. My short-notice hunt in Dec went off without a hitch, the Tanz paperwork is easy, and there is no stress worrying about flying SAA thru South Africa...KLM through Amsterdam to Tanzania is as painless as it gets.

Beg, borrow, whatever…but buffalo prices are going to keep going up and up.

These are the "good old days". Smiler

You see this hunt exactly like I do. It is a great hunt particularly for a first buffalo hunter as Mahenge North has lots of buffalo and the price is right. On the other hand for a couple guys that are very into the "buffalo hunting" what is not to love about 8 total buffalo and 14 days hunting them again at a great price.

I believe that Saeed has already posted that he's made his 2006 plans with his old friends, the Vincents.... Anyway, the law in Tanzania won't let Walter into the same concession in consecutive years. It is kind of like crop rotation. It's something about the methane gas and summer sausage???

I think Saeed tried to get Walter in a Omay twice and Dean Wimmer put him on double secret probation.
