For those that might be struggling with guidance for the ultimate anecdotal post, may I suggest:

"I have not taken a ___________ personally, but my PH __________ once shot a _______ with a ______ bullet at _________ ft/s, that not only penetrated the __________ from stem to stern but produced a blood spout about ________ feet high. The _________ bullet is the one I would recommend, including the _________ cartridge."

Throwing in a quote from a gun writer or another PH will only add authenticity!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Amen, Brother Will. Now pass the plate and everyone ante up!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Let me give this a try.

"I have not taken an elephant personally, but my PH WILL STEWART once shot an elephant in the ass with a 40 grain hollow point bullet at 2200 fps that not only penetrated the elephant from stern to stem but produced a blood spout higher than the Old Faithful geyser. The 40 grain hollow point bullet is the one I would recommend including the .22 magnum cartridge."

"Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun.

Okay, How did I do? Do I need more practice?

I have not taken a bull duiker personally, but my PH K. Bell once shot a charging dassie with a 400 grain bullet at 1700 ft/s that not only penetrated the little bastard from stem to stern but produced a blood spurt about an inch high. The hard cast bullet is the one I would recommend, including the .45-70 cartridge.

In fact, while having a beer the other day with
J. DuPlessis, he commented that this combo was the absolute nuts for all of Africa's rampaging rodents.

Apparantly the Kansas City Chiefs aren't playing today either.
