Been away from AR for a couple months. Been hitting the coyotes mostly lately, and waiting for trophies to make it back from Namibia. Found out they made it to the taxidermist here in Wyoming on Wednesday. I'm looking to see if anyone has a current SCI recordbook handy. I'd like to get a rough idea as towhere my gemsbok would sit. He goes 40.5 x 39.75 with 8 inches on each base for a total of 95.25. I went to the SCI website, and they wanted better than $60 to subscribe to use the virtual book. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Blank. I figured in the 50's or 60's I saw one a few days ago a guy had for sale he was claiming was number 33 that scored 92 and I figured it couldn't be that high.

you have to be a member- after that it is easy. if your trophy will not be in the top ten, any SCI certified measurer can measure it and give you the necessary score sheet. if the initial measurement shows it will be in the top 10 then it must be measured by an SCI Master Measurer and that score sheet submitted along with a photo showing the entire animal. as i recall the fee is about $25. overall, pretty easy.

just FYI, the top 2 Gemsbok in the book are cows if i am not mistaken. i know that at least one of the animals tied for #3 is a bull that scored 107 2/8( i am looking at him hanging on the wall as i type this)

Not to rain on your parade but if I remember correctly there may be 25 number 9s and so on. If ten animals scored 200 which was the highest score, the book would show 10 number ones. I have a leopard that was number 40 or thereabouts. When I counted the entries with higher scores , there were more like 125 with a greater score. You have a wonderful trophy and memories for a lifetime. IMHO that's what really counts.

I pretty well figured that was the case. I have do delusions of him being one of just a handfull, as I've personaly seen 2 others that were bigger, one was #7 when he was taken. However he is deffinately my favorite of the trophies I took this past year, and still an exceptional gemsbok that I couldn't hope to excede anytime soon. He is the one that was my priority animal, he exceeded the size that I was hoping for, and we worked for 4 solid days to get him, almost half of my hunt. He deffinately wouldn't mean as much to me if I had just been able to walk into the area and take him immedeately, I worked for him and earned him.
