bcolyerLIVE...from the Ultimate Lodge, Vic Falls
Hello boys: What are you all up to this fine Labor Day Weekend? Whatever it is, I wouldn't trade ya'. I am just sitting around chilling here at the Ultimate with Rus and the guys. For a quick run down.....this morning a couple of old 'camera guy' friends and I got dressed in hiking / fishing gear, and proceded to walk right past the tourist and staff at the Vic Falls Hotel....through the middle of the hotel and down by the flagpole, turned left and went down, down, down into the Nat'l parks area to the bottom of the gorge and fished the Zambezi for tigers and yellowfin.....didn't catch a thing!!!....But man oh man - what fun. I didn't even know that trail was there until this morning. Learn something new...and all that. This afternoon we are chillin' with Rob Styles, Ron Oliver and a few other PH's with clients here at the lodge. We are looking forward to an evening meal that Ron O. has been good enough to prepare himself. The meal itself is a secret. No one knows what he is cookin' up.
It is getting hotter.....quicker here. The cool drinks, good company, and shade by the pool is nice. My PH buddy is off chasing Buffalo in one of the Matetsi areas. He will collect me tomorrow evening and I will be off to camp. There was a temporary shortage of beds, so I sacrificed, and holed up here for a couple of days.
I know who you guys are that know me....I have passed along your hellos to the appropriate persons. Rus, Ron, and Rob says hello back - they remember all of you!
Yep....one of my frickin' bags DID NOT make it to Bulawayo on time, but has finally arrived. Good friends there have collected it just now......Thanks to Shawn Brigance at Gracy Travel & Annaliese @ Afton....and a host of others. Yep....they cut the locks off. Who knows if the video camera is there? Do not lecture me....I KNEW where I was putting it. Which means, it was NOT in my carry-on, and YES I can afford to lose it. This is my 17th trip -I know the risks. First time a bag never showed up where and when it should. Duh???
So....hope you are having a good weekend. I AM ! I'll write when I can.
A couple of other things. Wow! Vic Falls has picked up. It appears to be on it's way to perhaps being alive again.....and Wow...the prices have gone up! You should see the crap they use for money. U.S dollars. Think you have ever seen 'dirty' money. Thrice used toilet paper looks better than this stuff. Forget the 100 trillion dollar bills. I am bringing home DIRTY U.S. money. Take your mom's advice.......WASH YOUR HANDS !!!!!!!!

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

LHowellBrennan,
Thanks for that update!
I certainly wish I was there with you hanging out around the pool! I missed much of that experience when I was there last!

Use Enough GunYes, I have never seen money as DIRTY as that stuff! It's got to have every germ known to mankind on it. We made sure that we got rid of all of it in Joburg before coming home. Here I am this weekend in San Diego and you have to rub it in!
