Well, sitting in the first class departure lounge in Abu Dhabi on the way home. my management bull ele hut in the Caprivi with Karl Stumpfe was a great success. shot a 42/45 pounder on the second day( long story short, the game scouts said he had a "broken" tusk and was thus a management bull- no way Karl and I would argue).... another "own use"/ management permit in another area popped up the next day and i could have shot another bull but decided to pass..a few phone calls and Karl sold the hunt to a nice guy from RSA( a new AR member). i tagged along and videoed his hunt for him( perfect frontal brain shot at 5-6 meters on the second day- caught it all on high def for him). full report to follow but I AM A HAPPY CHAPPY!!!!!

Good news Jerry! Well done! 40+ pounder as a management bull? Only in the Caprivi or Botswana!

yesterday morning before i flew out of Kasane at 13:00, we took a cruise on the Chobe River. we must have seen at least 300 elephants coming down to the river from the hills of Chobe Nat. Park. since they weren't used to being shot at, they would walk to within 6-8 FEET of the boat where it was beached. absolutely fantastic to see undisturbed elephants literally touching distances away( hell, you could count their eyelashes!!!)- not to mention big herds of buffalo, plus sable, hippo, crocs, lechwe, warthogs, puku, impala ,etc.... a totally unique experience and a fantastic hunt.

hopefully Ronald will post a report here. he made an absolutely perfect frontal brain shot at 6 paces. Karl has a bisected elephant skull in camp that makes it easy to see where the brain lies in the skull. he stated later that having that skull made it easy to visualize shot placement- otherwise he would have shot into the skull but over the brain. i will get up a report on my hunt this weekend.
