I get a buzz, military type haircut so a wet wipe will take care of the shampoo,,,my backpack has a full change of clothes, my meds, my optic[camera, binoculars, small digital recorder] "wet wipes", toothbrush, deodorant, bug juice[skin so soft etc] my clothes pre treated with repellent, extra glasses and I am ready. Most of what I bring in the regular bag is extras that my Ph has asked me to bring for him, his family, or his community...

I think the Johnny Walker Blue would take priority over shampoo. And that doesn't just apply to Safari!!

I take Sheep Dip.

What really do you need on safari? Your laundry is done on a daily basis and your PH comes with a sharp knife, first aid, GPS and a ball of string.

Just packing up to send a week or so in the bush and everything I have packs into a rucksack.

Pair of shorts, long trousers, two shirts and a jacket. Couple pair of socks and my boots. A knife, whiskey and some rounds of .404, a LED lenser, camera and batteries. Sat phone and a framed photo of my wife

Still got some space.

Final gear decisions will be based on the seat cover color in the cruiser. Big Grin

A side note, I've seen a picture of Julie. I'd keep that in your kit if I were you.

Even on safari I need shampoo daily; then again it's Denorex or Selsun Blue.

I also take extra boot laces and keep them with me whenever in the field.

Don't forget a small quantity of meds:
1. Flagyl (+/- Cipro) if you catch "Delhi" belly
2. A laxative and an anti-diarrhoeal
3. Anti-inflammatory (Ibuprofen/naproxen)

If you take cigars don't forget the "humidor" especially in places like Namibia (we dried out $300 worth of cigars overnight on our first visit to Namibia. That was painful.)

Not all butt wipes are equal. Some can cause an allergy-type reaction and make ones butt itch like crazy: not something you want to experience or think about as you crawl on your hands and knees after something big and nasty. Use Balneol, either in a bottle or as sachets. You will love it.
