I dont know why some people are so offended at some peoples fun dig at the "Bodfire" marketing machine, I am sure they were having a laugh themselves when they came up with the marketing idea, so I guess it ok for us to do it as well. No one is actually stopping the Colonel from doing what makes him happy.
So its ok to think what you want, but not say it?
So SureFire/CB are free to give us the impression to get us thinking that we need a product, but for some reason ,some people believe we should not be free to give the impression/discuss what we think may be the truth behind the marketing.

I hope none are banned from the AR forum, cause it would be a hypocracy if it were to happen, just for the sake of keeping those few happy, who complained about getting their skirts wet when they are splashed by people diving into the river of life for a swim and a laugh.
There is a particular slinging match that has been taking place between two individuals on these forum pages for some time now(yrs?)concerning a certain brand of SA monometal bullets and it has gone to much more personal depth than this thread, yet I have seen neither of them banned, nor am i saying they should be.
It aint so much about gettin a life, its more about having the correct attitude to enjoy the one you have.
I have learnt in life to be much more weary of the person that agrees with me all the time rather than the one who speaks his/her mind.

Galileo Galilei, near 500yrs ago,who put forward the theory that the Earth rotated around the sun,was summonded to Rome to see the Pope and put before a panel, and subequently banned from making such comments about the motions of the Earth. In later years, he was also subject to the inquisition. But the church maintained its freedom to carry on with its own brand of intimidation and mass population controlling poppycock theories.

But getting back to the add itself, Poster Martinbns asked, what did He actually do to the Lion with the torch? The add is rather dramatic but also rather vague.
Did he poke him in the eye?,donk him on the snout or head?
throw it at him?
flash him?
Give him one for free?
If they reccommend that you buy one for such serious nature of purpose,
what technique do they reccommend?,
what is its effective range?
How much actual field testing have they done on lions to give confidence in the recommended use of the product?
Having 50 African safaris under his belt is great for sure, I dont begrudge him that or his writing success, but it is no real depth of testimony for the product itself, cause most of those times he was using a rifle, not a torch to subdue beasts.
Having said that, I do have surefires of my own, which I consider a quality made product.

Now that this circus has finished with the Lions,...bring on the clowns!

Some of you guys from "The land of the free" never stops surprising me.... Frowner

Remember back in the 1970`s ..... moviestar Slim Pickens made a series of ads for the Weaver scope ???

This kind of marketing has always been here and will always be, and so is envy and narrow mindness it seems.......sad but true.

Craig Boddington, the hunter and writer, stand his ground, taller than many others.
