458 Win Mag and .458 Lott

Can’t remember all of them, but on my last three safaris, he has carried either a 404 Jeffery or a double in 500NE.

I think every one of my PH's carried something with a 4 in front of it. The younger guys tended toward .458 Lott bolt guns because they are affordable, relatively. But to comment on what Eagle said, in 2013, I believe, the appy's main concern was finding a suitable rifle in-country that he could acquire.
Calibre was not the issue, it was availability. he was a good kid and I left him enough to go a long way toward his rifle if he could find one.
