Silwane! Your going to get eaten! Large male on left side of termite mound! 465H&H

Cool pics. I would have been eaten too. Took me about 30 seconds to find the lion. 30+ years experience tells me that perfection hit at .264. Others are adequate but anything before or after is wishful thinking.

Me, too. I have far from enough experience to be turned loose in lion country on my own.

Damn, I had to blow the picture up to see the lion, now that I know where he is he sticks out like a sore thumb!! I'm definitly no expert on lions but he looks huge IMO. "We band of 45-70'ers"

I presume the location is Zim. Who is the hunter? Rifle and calibre? ( guessing .375 H&H, but if the hunter is Ganyana, no doubt a 9.3mm ) Are there any follow up pics? I NEED CLOSURE.

Funny angle maybe, but the dude with the rifle doesn't even seem to be looking at the lion. Maybe it's the kind of thing where he doesn't want the lion to know that he knows that he's there? I know it that were me, I'd probably be looking right at him, through a recoiling rifle scope! Damn that's something. Great shots. Now stop teasing, and post the ones taken in the next few minutes following these! ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

These are weird! I was looking where the "hunter" was looking, and where he was walking ie. off to the right! I confess that I did not see the lion either. Peter. I still don't see it unless it the very large dark object just to the photos left of the mound about 2/3's of the way up -- but it looks to large to be a lion. Can someone give some visual clues or perhaps mark it someway and repost it? DB Bill aka Bill George

Watching the bitch who is straight ahead (and not visible in the photo), she looked as though she was about to charge. The male is planning on a fast retreat! Yup- Zambezi Valley Rifle is actually a Mauser 66 in .458 Win

How far were you from the lion? It looks to be maybe 50 yards if that IMO. "We band of 45-70'ers"

The lioness is by all accounts, at least these days, generally braver and more agressive than the lion. I am convinced that is true only because the lioness is generally not hunted and so has a lesser fear of humans than her mate. But in the instant case . . . Ganyana, what happened next? Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

The lion was much more difficult to locate than I anticipated! For those that would have long since been eaten (like me)... here' the lion AKA "Waldo."

My eye was drawn to that area initially but the lion looks huge compared to the PH in the photo...the perspective just isn't there. DB Bill aka Bill George

Nice graphics touch. You must be a professional. As long as you're showing off your skills, here's the template for your hunter. ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

Whew! I saw the lion, but I must admit I could not tell its disposition at first glance. Now that Chris has provided the incredible illustration, my worries were for not. And I now know why the hunter in the picture appears to be ignoring that large cat. It is the rare Smiley Faced Lion of Southern Africa. They will not hurt you, and will let you hug and kiss them. Thank you, Chris. Just as aside, but how many times did you watch that clip about the two nice English guys who raised the lion cub and visited it a year after they released it into the wild? With your enhanced rendition, it has to be that very same lion. SCI Life Member DSC Life Member
