Zambia arrests man with 44 elephant tusks www.chinaview.cn 2006-06-10 16:05:02 LUSAKA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Zambian police arrested a man illegally taking 44 elephant tusks in Copperbelt Province on Friday, Times of Zambia reported on Saturday. The man was arrested at a roadblock in the early hours of the day when he was on a bus going to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. The man told the police that he bought the tusks from Angola and that he was taking them to Lusaka where he has the market. The tusks were packed in three suitcases and the police are awaiting Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) officers to go and value the tusks. The man is currently detained at Chingola police station and will appear in court soon. My thoughts exactly! Those must have been some GIANT SUITCASES! I'm sure you could get 44 sets of Warthog tusks in 3 suitcases, but certainly not elephant. | |||

cow tusks are small and thin, 4-5kgs each X 44 = 200kgs/3=66kgs/suitcase, they were some big bags or more unreliable info from african media. sorry about the spelling, I missed that class. | |||
