THE Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has captured a 3,7-metre-long python at Borrodaile Farm along Hwedza Road in Marondera. The reptile was reportedly killing goats and sheep on the farm. A domestic worker at the farm who only identified herself as Sekai said they phoned the Parks authority after they learned that it was illegal to kill protected species. "They advised us to phone them back as soon as the snake appeared. When it eventually did, we phoned them and they came but the snake had retreated into its hole because a large crowd that had gathered anticipating its capture," she said. Parks officials later successfully managed to dig out the python which they took to their provincial headquarters before releasing it into a forest situated near Bernard Mizeki College, about 30km to the east of Marondera. People are encouraged to report a python’s presence to the Parks Department, as it is illegal to kill them.
