What carrier handles this and how do I obtain it? Help anyone!

I was a bad girl at the SCI convention and booked another elephant hunt in Tanzania for 2006. I need to be sure I'm covered in case of problems.

Thanks, D. Nelson

I don't know the answer, but I'd sure like to hear more about your hunt. Where and with who?

I used CSA on my trip to Moz. last fall. The package I got included medical evac. & personal prop. loss. My camera was stolen (another story) & they paid off rather quickly w/ little hassle. It is $200 well spent.

Thanks for the info. I'll pursue it ASAP.

I'll be hunting with Tanzania Big Game Safaris (Raoul Ramoni). I hunted with them in 2001 and they took very good care of me when I clumsily broke my leg the first day of the 21 day safari. I still managed to get lion, leopard, hippo, buff, and most species of plainsgame I was after, with there help and some unique hunting methods.

The camp name is Mwambesi on the Tanzania/Zambia border. Does anyone know that area? I will be after elephant primarily, but the 21-day safari allows for the other biggies too (lion, leopard, 3-buffalo, and plainsgame--I need a sable and hope this area will also provide that).

Yes Thelma (my .375) and Louise are definitely going. Louise (my .416) is currently at Jim Brockman's undergoing a thorough check up to explain the tumbling and key holing ammo problem I had last year upon arrival in Botswana. I'll report to you as soon as I receive word from them.

Again, thanks for the insurance info! Regards, D. Nelson

The Mwambesi Game Controlled Area (400 square miles) is actually on the border of Tanzania and Mozambique. I believe it is across the Ruvuma River from the Niassa Game Reserve in Mozambique.

You have a good chance of taking a big tusked elephant in that area. The elephant in that area carry long heavy tusks, unlike the normal long thin Tanzanian tusks.

Check out the pictures on Miombo Safaris website for the Lukwika-Lumesule concession which is in the same general area as Mwambesi.

Don't forget that you need a CITES Import Permit for elephant from Tanzania. US Fish & Wildlife Permits

Terry

Terry;

Thanks for the correction on Mozambique border rather than Zambia. Does that area also contain sable???

Thanks for the "heads up" on the CITES for elephant in Tanzania, I am only used to doing one for leopard.

Also, "OH MY", jump from the photos, I am a lucky girl!!!! Big Grin Long, heavy tusks will be wonderful!

Not sure about sable, but the Miombo website lists sable as having a low density in the area. So I would guess that Mwambesi probably doesn't have a large population of sable.

What little I know about the area is that elephant hunting is somewhat dependant on the migration of elephant from Mozambique. Of course, Raoul would be much more informed and up to date about this area than am I.

Terry
