Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge, was hoping for any info on it. I was thinking it would be a great big bear rifle in north america. And was wondering if there were any real advantages with this cartridge over the 416 rigby or 416 remington. ( or disadvantages) Thanks Tanoose

The advantage is 300fps over traditional factory loadings of the .416 Rigby and .416 Remington. The disadvantages are increased recoil and blast. George

Plus you'll need a larger action/rifle. You can get the same thing in a good rifle by buying a Ruger RSM in .416 Rigby.

THE 416 Weatherby is Layne Simpson's favorite. he claims it kills with {sic} "considerably more authority than either the 416 Rigby or 416 Remington." As an avid Weatherby user, I draw the line at the 375 Weatherby. The down side the to the 416, 378 and 460 is the fact that the rifles are effectively a two round rifle due to the size of the cartridge. The come in 26" barrels which I think are too big for the type of hunting those cartridges are supposed to be used to and the recoils is absolutely fierce. On top of that, you can take a regular 416 Rigby and load it to Weatherby specs....then stand by for recoil! jorge

Jorge, Wby now offer a deeper magazine and I think it comes for the 378 based calibres and takes them to 3 shots. Mike

jorge, "...considerably more authority than either the 416 Rigby or 416 Remington..." When a writer says something as silly as this, I add him to my list of IGNORE.

Saeed: Have to agree with you. This is only one of his "silly" comments.
